UPDATED: Woman killed in Murrieta solo vehicle traffic accident ID’d

MURRIETA – Coroner’s officials have identified a woman who was killed Friday, Aug. 12 in a single vehicle traffic collision that occurred on Clinton Keith Road and Spinning Wheel Drive in the City of Murrieta, according to Murrieta Fire Press Information Officer Captain Matt Corelli.

The coroner’s release identified the victim of the fatal traffic collision as Lindsey McLendon, 34, of Homeland. The report listed McLendon’s time of injury as 3:09 p.m. Her time of death was listed as 3:20 p.m.

The deadly accident happened when McLendon was traveling westbound on Clinton Keith Road when her vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic lanes and struck a traffic signal pole.

Multiple citizens called 911 at about 3:09 p.m. and reported the traffic collision. Callers told emergency communications dispatchers McLendon was trapped inside the vehicle.

“Murrieta Fire Department Engine 2, Truck 1, Battalion Chief, Deputy Fire Chief Lantzer and Fire Chief Scott Ferguson responded to the scene where it was determined that the lone occupant had succumbed to her injuries,” Corelli wrote in a press release about the deadly accident.

Murrieta Police Traffic Officers responded to the scene of the collision and conducted an accident investigation, contacting witnesses, collecting evidence and detailing the traffic accident.

Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office responded to the collision scene and the Murrieta Fire Department assisted with extricating McLendon from the mangled wreckage of the vehicle.

  • I was wondering if there is any update on the Hemet resident Jennifer Travis who was killed by a hit and run driver on State street by the Crow’s nest bar she was run down in her wheel chair and was in critical condition but later died from her injuries the car was found abandoned and on fire somewhere on Esplanade street in Hemet.
